On Thursday, April 28th, Habitat staff, board, key community stakeholders and homebuyer Melissa gathered in Bristol to celebrate the dedication of Habitat Bucks’ 124th home.
New homeowner Melissa and her two boys moved from a one-bedroom apartment they shared, into a three-bedroom ranch style home, and now everyone has some space of their own.
“My biggest dream for myself and sons was a house—one we can call our own; one that no one can take from us; one we can put the hard work in to make it what we want. I was a kid without these things: no house, no home, and no stability! I strive to be the opposite! This is a dream come true,” said Melissa.
“At Habitat Bucks we believe that affordable housing plays a critical role in strong stable communities. Experts also draw a straight line between housing quality and the wellbeing of children,” emphasized Stacey Mullholland, Vice President, Habitat Board of Directors.
Habitat homes offer families a path toward stability and independence. Lead sponsors of this home, who also recognize and support Habitat’s mission, included Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Bucks County Foundation, County of Bucks, DOW, First Bank, and William Penn Bank.
Additionally, more than 95 volunteers gave over 1,008 hours of service to complete this home.
Habitat Bucks is grateful to the businesses, organizations, faith groups, and individuals who help create a path to homeownership. Every hand makes a difference.
