The Media Arts Council (MAC) is excited to announce its 18th Annual Media Film Festival! Beginning on Friday, March 28, the festival takes place over four nights, featuring 29 independent short films shown across four different venues throughout Downtown Media, Pennsylvania.
On opening night, Friday, March 28, at The Towne House, and Saturday, March 29, at Sligo Irish Pub, we will showcase a mix of international and regional films. Both nights offer a movie tavern experience, allowing attendees to order food and drinks before and during the show. Each night features five unique short films, spanning a variety of genres, including comedies, dramas, thrillers, animation, and heartwarming stories.
On Friday, April 4, the festival moves to the Delaware County Institute of Science for Documentary Night, featuring three films by Pennsylvania filmmakers. The lineup includes a documentary about the U.S.'s largest trash incinerator, located in Chester, PA; a story about a Villanova professor who grows plants in Martian soil; and Adidas Owns the Reality, which explores conditions for garment workers in the Adidas supply chain.
On Saturday, April 5, we close out the festival at the historic Media Theatre. The afternoon will feature a Best of Local block, including student films from MAC’s filmmaking program, followed in the evening by Best of the Festival films, awards, and an after-show hangout with the filmmakers. Expect a diverse film lineup, including an animated snowman from Korea, a
comedy about calorie counting from Canada, a drama about motocross racing by a West Philly native turned Hollywood stuntwoman, and much more!
Since 2007, the MAC has been celebrating the best of local and regional moviemaking talent, alongside national and international films. MAC Artistic Director Jeff Thomas says, “The festival showcases creative spirit and strives to elevate the quality of local filmmaking. More than just a film showcase, it’s about connecting filmmakers, industry professionals, and audiences—while having fun doing it!”
