Perkasie, by the American Impressionist Walter Emerson Baum, is a painting acquired from a private collection. Baum was born in Sellersville, Pennsylvania in 1884 and was one of the few Pennsylvania impressionist artists actually born in Bucks County. Also a writer, editor and photographer, Baum worked odd jobs to support his family. As his artwork became more renowned, he went on to teach art classes. In fact, many students of his became well-known artists themselves and are referred to as “The Baum Circle”. Baum’s style of artwork is recognized for its Impressionist snow scenes. Today, his art can be found in many major museums and galleries.
