Town and Country Players is thrilled to announce its upcoming production of the Tony Award-winning musical Nine, which will run from April 25th through May 10th.
Inspired by Federico Fellini’s iconic film 8½, Nine tells the story of Guido Contini (played by Blair Johnson), a world-renowned film director facing a creative crisis and navigating a complex web of relationships. As he seeks inspiration for his next masterpiece, the women in his life – both past and present – take center stage, guiding him through a dazzling, dreamlike exploration of love, identity, and artistic passion.
Central to the narrative of Nine, Guido Contini struggles to maintain connections with several women, including his increasingly disillusioned wife, Luisa (Alyssa Moore), his demanding mistress, Carla Albanese (Kallie Cooper-Damon), and his muse, Claudia Nardi (Tricia Curley). Guido's interactions reveal a man grappling with his ego and insecurities, contributing to his creative block.
Directed by Nancy Ridgeway, with producer Annamarie Hughes and musical director Joe Nappi, Nine promises to enchant audiences with a blend of drama, humor, and unforgettable music. Featuring a lush score by Maury Yeston and a compelling book by Arthur Kopit, Nine unfolds through flashbacks and musical numbers that reveal Guido’s world.
“Bringing Nine to our stage has been an exciting experience. It's not a show you see often, which makes it a unique opportunity for our audience and for us as artists. We've been lucky to have some of our theater’s seasoned performers share the stage with some amazing newcomers, creating a cast that’s full of energy, heart, and talent,” says Moore about the production.
The cast also includes Melissa Angelo-Schiumo, Jennifer Ahr, Nancy VanderZwan, Melissa Mongi Copestake, Stephanie Weidner, Ryan Polchan, Kristen Sheridan, Laura Watson, Kristen Shields, Caitrin McLean, Vanessa Someya, Megan Carter, Sarah Leakey, Ali DiPaolo, Ellie Borghi, and Karen Cameron.
Nine performances run weekends from April 25th to May 10th. Town and Country Players is located on Route 263 in Buckingham. Curtain time is 8 p.m. for Friday and Saturday evening shows and 2 p.m. for Saturday and Sunday matinees. Tickets are $30.
