The exhibit solicits original art with only 3 criteria: the work must be 5” x 7” on the outside edge, must be unframed, and must not be signed on the front. Every piece that is entered is exhibited and every piece is sold anonymously for $40. Area artists, professional and self-taught, submit up to three pieces on any subject, style or medium. Under the cloak of anonymity, a number of very well-known artists participate in support of the event, freed from any expectations of style, subject or reputation. With no names or prices to guide the buyer, selections are made simply by what art appeals to them. Only after a purchase has been made will the artist’s name be revealed to the buyer.
Submissions will be accepted at Phoenix Art Supplies & Framing, July 1 - 12. There is a $5 submission fee per piece.
40 Art is now an online exhibition, which goes live at 7:00 sharp on Friday, July 18. The online exhibit allows observers to peruse and purchase art at any location: from the comfort of home, to out and about at a restaurant, or at a watch party. We haven’t completely abandoned the in-person experience, though, as we hold a casual pick-up party at the shop on Sunday, July 20 from 12:00- 3:00. Buyers can not only pick up their online purchases, but also shop for more treasures on display. Ready Made frames will be available at a discounted price as well as a 20% framing discount coupon if you choose to frame your pieces at a later date.
