Our exhibition, Morgan Colt Rediscovered, has delighted and surprised many people since our opening on November 1. It is exciting to reveal the fascinating history, artifacts, and architecture of Morgan Colt, a true Renaissance person, to an appreciative audience.
We have new and significant developments to share. We are thrilled and extremely grateful to be the recipients of a five-thousand-dollar unrestricted grant from a generous donor.
Another benefactor donated a superb framed painting by Pennsylvania Impressionist Walter Elmer Schofield entitled Boathouse on the Canal. The subject is thought to be the houseboat that Colt and his wife lived in when they arrived in New Hope. This beautiful painting is now in our exhibition, where you may enjoy it.
Shortly after the exhibition opened, we hosted dinner for a lucky couple in Colt’s former studio, where they enjoyed stories about the art colony and the superb ambiance in this space with soaring beamed ceilings, expansive lead-glass windows, and a roaring walk-in fireplace. The couple was so enthusiastic about their experience that they decided to fund the creation of English gardens on our foundation grounds, to be ready this coming spring.
We are immensely grateful for these remarkable gifts and the dedication of these anonymous benefactors to our mission. They will help us reach our goals of restoring Colt’s unique structures and revitalizing an important part of the former New Hope Art Colony.
We invite you to visit us soon to enjoy the exceptional artistry of Morgan Colt and our enchanting Little English Village. And Happy Thanksgiving!
