The Silverman Gallery of Bucks County Impressionist Art is proud to present “Jennifer Hansen Rolli: Cascade” – from September 14 - October 13, 2024. Please join the artist for her opening receptions on Saturday, September 14th from 5-8 pm and Sunday, September 15th from 1-4 pm.
As she started to put this collection together, Rolli felt she couldn’t get out of her own way. “Everything that was coming out of me felt struggled and eventually overworked. Thankfully, in early spring, I expressed this to my artist friend - David Stier - who gave me the simple advice: “just paint for yourself.” She painted whatever she felt like, and started small, inching up in size.
“Cascade was an easy encapsulating word, chosen as the title with thought on light and my attraction to paint its effect. Deeper digging of its meaning became the rallying cry of my growth this year: a succession of stages in a process, each of which initiates the next. A painting, much like in life, unfolds upon itself in a continuous cascade, where the decisions of each layer influence the next. One lays the groundwork and has an idea of how they want things to go, but it’s the surprises along the way that determine the true path.”
There are eighteen small works in the collection, ranging from Kitchen Peonies to Playhouse After the Storm, and a dozen more new paintings, moving up in size to the stunning 60 x 48” Coral Cascade. A Bucks County native who now lives in Virginia (and one of Rolli’s most dedicated collectors) put it this way: “It is art that tells a story . . . I am not sure if it is her story, or one of my own, but you can feel the memories in Jennifer’s artwork.”
Rolli’s paintings have graced the covers of Bucks County Magazine since 2016. “Jennifer’s vision, translated in broad strokes and a diverse palette, transcends the traditions of Pennsylvania Impressionism and has made her an outstanding artist-in-residence for Bucks County Magazine. Her covers make every issue of our magazine a collectible,” says Bob Waite, the magazine’s editor.
Her work continues to capture the essence of Bucks County and beyond, connecting with people both visually and emotionally. Since it was founded in 2011 by Herman Silverman, Rolli has played an important role in the success of the Silverman Gallery. Like Silverman, she has strong connections to Bucks County and the Delaware River Valley. “Herman and Jenny both loved the area, both raised their families here and both have given back to the community in countless ways,” says Rhonda Garland, the gallery’s owner/operator since 2016. “Showcasing Jennifer’s incredible paintings throughout the last decade is one of the key reasons that we attract visitors and collectors.”
Rolli’s newest collection is available for viewing both online and in person. The gallery is open Wed.-Sat. from 11-6, and on Sunday from 11-4. Additional hours are available by appointment. The Silverman Gallery is located in the Buckingham Green Shopping Center, 4920 York Road (Rt. 202) in Holicong, just five miles south of New Hope. 215-794-4300 www.silvermangallery.com
