Bette Overmier was an avid animal activist and Phillies fan. She annually supported the SPCA during her lifetime. She graduated from Miami University of Ohio in 1963 with a degree in zoology. Together with her husband Jim, she raised three children, Beth, Jill, and Don in Ohio and Pennsylvania. She had six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
After raising her children, she became a store manager at a jewelry boutique, where she worked for twenty years. Bette was an avid reader and enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, musical concerts, and Phillies games.
Bette beat cancer three times, in 2012, 2016, and 2017. She passed away from long-term complications of chemotherapy in November 2023.
Beth, her daughter, and Nolan, her grandson have teamed up with the Phandemic Krew and developed “Bette’s Triples: A Cause for Paws”. In addition to public donations, Beth, Nolan, and the Phandemic Krew have pledged to donate $100 to the PSPCA, in her memory, for every triple a Phillies player hits during the 2024 season. We also plan to host events throughout the season to help raise money for the PSPCA.
