Join us to hear first-hand from Mrs. Susanna Warder as she speaks about her life, her family, and other enslaved people owned by Mr. William Penn, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's founder at the Gather Place Museum These enslaved people lived and worked at the historic William Penn's County Estate - Pennsbury Manor (Est. 1683) located in Morrisville, Pa. This program is both educational and interesting. We close out with questions and answer time designed for audience participation. This is a family friendly program well suited for school-aged children, adults, and Sr. Citizens as well!
Susana Warder's monologue was adapted by Shirley Lee Corsey from *primary source materials researched by Mary Ellyn Kunz, Museum Educator who worked at Pennsbury Manor from 1990 to 2021. *These are firsthand accounts and historical documents that provide a direct link to the past. Ms. Kunz delved deep into the archives, uncovering stories, letters, and records that shed light on the lives of the people who lived and worked at Pennsbury Manor during William Penn's time.
