Highland Art Gallery
When Cheryl Macdowall opened Highlands Art Gallery in Lambertville several months ago, she was not new to the business. She says, “I have been involved in the art world all of my adult life as a collector—for thirty plus years. Whenever I traveled, I always went gallery hopping in areas known for quality representational paintings and sometimes came home with a fine art treasure. I wanted to create that type of an atmosphere here in New Jersey so collectors could have that same experience. I have been in business for seven years and carry oil paintings and bronze sculpture by national, international, regional and local artists.” Cheryl moved Highlands Art Gallery to Lambertville in the spring “because the area is steeped in art history and has a large presence of art galleries.”
The artists represented by Highland Art Gallery include a variety of representational artists and bronze sculptors ranging from Impressionists like Kenn Backhaus to figurative and animal sculptors, like the mother and daughter Marianne Caroselli and Scy Caroselli. Exhibiting at Highland Art Gallery are husband and wife, Susan Blackwood and Howard Friedland from Montana, who have won many awards in national shows. Michael Godfrey, known for his atmospheric/ethereal landscape style, is in some of the top invitational national shows in the country. Also represented are Lili Anne Laurin from New Jersey, who is known for her local landscape scenes and Elizabeth Robbins, who has accolades for her florals and still life paintings. Located at 41 N.
