Celloist
The Youth Orchestra of Bucks County (YOBC) returns to the stage on Saturday November 20th and Sunday November 21st. As part of an exciting concert weekend, YOBC will share the talents of student soloist Ezra Greenberg on cello.
Each season, YOBC – which serves students from over 14 school districts in Bucks and surrounding counties – invites student musicians to compete to play one movement of a solo piece at an upcoming concert. This year’s winner, Ezra Greenberg, is a senior at Pennsbury High School. Greenberg is an accomplished musician who, in addition to his cello studies, also has studied piano, music theory, and composition for the past ten years. Greenberg will be performing Gabriel Fauré’s Élégie, op. 24, with the YOBC Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, November 21st at 4pm at the Delaware Valley University Life Science Auditorium. Other highlights of the Sunday afternoon concert include the Symphony Orchestra’s performance of Alfred Reed’s Russian Christmas Music and the Concert Winds ensemble presenting works by Alford, Erickson, and Leonard Bernstein.
Four other YOBC ensembles will be performing on Saturday, November 20th at 2pm at Holland Middle School. The Saturday concert will feature YOBC’s three string ensembles, followed by the Philharmonia, performing the favorite Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, 0p. 46 of Edvard Grieg.
Tickets - $15 for adults and $8 for students and seniors – can be purchased online at yobc.org.
