Frank Derito Style
by Donna Dvorak
One doesn’t have to fly to Milan, London, New York or any high fashion district to appear stylish anymore. For men who desire a custom, impeccably designed look for business, casual or formal occasions, a treasure trove of men’s fashions is tucked in the heart of Newtown. Frank DeRito Fine Men’s Clothier is where clothes are crafted to last and where you know you’ll be dressed for success. In fact, if you can’t go to the store, Frank will come to you for image consultations with his classic and elegant styles.
The moment you stroll through the front door you will be treated as family. As a family owned premier men’s store, this is the place to find any fashion trend – edgy, modern, classic, formal or design your own shirt or suit. Frank also offers sells and rents tuxedos for proms, weddings and black tie events. Everything is done the old fashioned way at this fine men’s shop. Each customer gets undivided attention and is fit to his size or body build by Frank DeRito with the help of his tailor, Dino DiMucci, both professionals in their fields who excel in their craft. They stand by their work, guarantee it, and appreciate the importance of quality service.
On a sunny Saturday my husband and I visited and strolled through this tastefully decorated store, noting marble bars with scrollwork accents that double as tables. We listened to the Italian arias that were being played throughout the store while we gazed at the amazing assortment of men’s haberdashery. There’s no limit to the collection whether it’s accessories like bowties, cuff-links (don’t miss the gorgeous Daniel Delce Italy cuff links with multi-colored stones on silver) patterned or plain leather belts, hats, shoes or custom made suits and shirts. You want it; they have it! They also carry an assortment of ‘off the rack’ lines such as Tommy Bahama®, Hugo Boss®, Donald Trump Signature Collection, Sir Richel and more. But, it’s DeRito’s custom designs and the creation of his own clothes that fit so perfectly that explains why his loyal customers keep returning. Besides outstanding workmanship, you will own a one-of-a-kind, fit-to-your-body shirt, slacks or suit and be confident that no one else will have it. You can even find a selection of handmade walking sticks to complete your look, reminding one of Lord Grantham of Downtown Abbey. What else does one expect from a family whose displayed coat of arms instills “Honor, Integrity and Pride?”
“I’ve been in the industry for more than twenty-five years,” says Frank Derito, who received a BS in fashion design and marketing from the Philadelphia College of Textile and Science on a scholarship, and then returned to Italy to perfect his trade. “I’ve designed clothes for David Letterman at his studio, Alan King, Rick Tocket, (the famous Philadelphia Flyer) and more. I travel to New York to make suits for the Wall Street men from Meryl Lynch, Morgan Stanley, UBS the Swiss bank and others. I pride myself on being the number one shirt maker on Wall Street. I’ve created suits and shirts for some ambassadors from South Africa and have created clothes for state representatives and other dignitaries. I also custom design clothes for men who travel worldwide. I would like to see men return to dressing, whether they have to or not.”
