Pray & Chef Guru
Guru's Indian Cuisine, located at 203 North Sycamore Street in Newtown, PA, is rolling out an inventive autumnal-inspired menu on Friday, September 22, in celebration of the autumn equinox. Proceeds from the seasonal menu will benefit Happy Tails Rescue Retirement Home in Morrisville, PA. The new menu at the beloved Bucks County Indian restaurant owned by Chef Ashni Kumar Guru and his wife Priya features the flavors of fall – cinnamon, ginger, pumpkin, and squash – which are all cherished in India.
“‘Baba’” (Chef Guru) and I created a menu that’s a nod to the traditional American fall flavor notes, but with an Indian twist,” explained Priya. “Guests will be treated to butternut squash soup and pumpkin curry, and even an Indian version of a Sloppy Joe (also available as a vegan option), which we call the “Sloppy Baba.” We’re also very excited to introduce our version of the classic cannoli, which utilizes a thick, creamy, strained yogurt flavored with saffron.
“Baba and I feel really blessed to share the proceeds from this new seasonal menu with Happy Tails Rescue Retirement Home, a woman-owned Bucks County non-profit that provides senior dogs without a home the chance to live out their golden years in comfort,” said Priya. “We’ve witnessed the horrible treatment of stray dogs and cows in India, and providing senior pets with the ability to live out their lives with dignity and phenomenal care that utilizes traditional and alternative therapy, and even reiki, provides us immense joy.”
