Maxwell Builders
Thirty-six years ago Jay Maxwell formed J.R. Maxwell Builders, Inc. to be a construction company that would only do quality work. Now with his son and business partner, James Maxwell, they do build homes, additions to homes and all kinds of remodeling work. James said, “We do everything from small remodeling jobs to building three million dollar houses” This year they built a house in Solebury and one in Lambertiville and also built a 3,000-foot addition in Stockton. The secret to their success is always striving for quality from the materials they use to their highly skilled 12-man carpentry crew. James explained, “We use the same subcontractors that we have been using for years. It gives me a good feeling that when I walk onto a jobsite I know everyone working on the job.”
When the Bucks County Playhouse was to be remodeled for the new owners, they called on J.R. Maxwell because they knew they could count on this father/son owned company to do the job without ruining its unique look. The building had deteriorated and needed repairs to the roof, the seating area, the stage and the structural elements. Now left with a few things to finish, the Playhouse is open again and it is gorgeous. People who attend comment on the renewed appearance and how it reminds them of its golden days.
Jay and James Maxwell also have their own millwork company. “ Our standard extends to Mink Run Millwork. At Mink Run, we work in collaboration with Cashman Woodworking, handcrafting custom architectural interior millwork, built-in furniture, cabinetry, bars, and landscape architecture to match work completed at your home.”
