I was talking with my good friend Tony Dalton who owns The Fitness Factory Outlet who suggested I try out the Functional Trainer. He said they are really the staple of the home gym. Tony has been in the business of body building and training for many years. He has been in competitions and was considered among some of the celebrities in body building back in the day. They included Joe and Betty Weider, Rachel McLish, Gladys Portugues, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Larry Scott and Franco Colombo. Just to name a few. And, Tony is in touch with many of them still today.
Tony is a nutrition and exercise consultant and has been training people since the 1970s. He eventually opened his gym in the late 1970s in Philadelphia. He is a winner of the WABBA: World Amateur Body Building Association in 1981.Tony was a great help in showing me everything this mean machine can do before I went loose on it. I love it. If I didn’t have so much equipment in my home gym, I definitely would purchase a functional trainer! I may buy one anyway if I can sneak it in while Bill is sleeping.
While there are many brands of functional fitness trainers, I was working out on the Powertec Model Brand. It’s cables were smooth and I could work out both resistance and strength training exercises. You can work your muscle groups in the widest variety of ways and it’s safe for all age groups. There are added safety measures so the weights will not fall or cause any harm to the user.
Tony was great and is a true expert in the fitness field. His store in Quakertown, PA is filled with all types of exercise equipment and he has put in many home gyms throughout Bucks County and beyond. His knowledge got me started on the functional trainer and he said that one of the biggest benefits of owning one is the amazing amount of exercises you can do on them.
These machines can work your arms, shoulders, back, chest and legs. And, you can do bicep curls, hammer curls, overhead triceps, shoulder presses, lat raises, reverse fly’s and upright rows. To strengthen your back you can do rows, pull downs, single arm rows, straight-arm pushdowns and more. And you can do cable fly’s and chest press from any angle to improve your chest muscles. Doing your legs are easy. You can do glute kickbacks, straight-legged deadlifts, cable squats and leg raises.
Having a functional trainer will allow you to exercise your body and keep tone while getting a great workout. You will strengthen your entire body and with a tone and strong body you feel good and look good.
I really loved this machine. The amount of exercises I could do is truly amazing. While it does take up some room, I think it’s really worth it if you have the space. I would recommend a functional trainer for anyone at any age providing you are in good health and have your doctors approval before going forward. This is a winner… keeping you fit at any age!
