The Carversville Store hasn’t been the same since. On May 4, 2013 Max Hansen took over this central hub of the small, picturesque town of Carversville and renamed it the Max Hansen Carversville Grocery. This not only kept the store alive but it added the talent of a world renowned chef to this local gathering place. The changes were subtle but profound. The store became a destination for Bucks Countians to buy locally grown and produced groceries and eat food cooked under the supervision of Carversville’s most famous chef. Max, who grew up helping his grandfather tend vegetables and learning the art of canning and preserving, discovered that food, grown and prepared with love, has a profoundly positive impact on people and their experience of life. While a student at Vassar College, Max worked summers at the Ocean Club on Martha’s Vineyard. Max graduated at the top of his class at the New England Culinary Institute and while chefing for a diplomat in France, he furthered his study of classic French cuisine. He subsequently worked in Manhattan with cooking icons, Michel Rostang and Thomas Keller. Max’s love of salmon led him to create his own line of smoked salmon and to author the best-selling cookbook, Smoked Salmon, Delicious Innovative Recipes (Chronicle Books, 2003). The Max Hansen Carversville Grocery is located at 6208 Fleecy Dale Rd, Carversville, PA, 18913. The store can be reached at 215-297-5353 and you can find it online at www.maxcarversvillegrocery.com.
