“It is hard to believe that HealthLink, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, has been serving the community that long,” notes new board president Rick James. “I think the fact that we tightened our focus five years ago to exclusively providing dental services and oral health education may be a key factor in our success. It has helped us better direct our limited resources and realize greater impact with our programming. More people are learning who we are, what we do, and how we can serve people living in this area. They are helping ‘spread the word’ about one of the area’s valuable health resources.”
HealthLink plans to introduce “Project Tooth Fairy” with an outreach component that allows area children to actually see and hear important messages from none other than the Tooth Fairy herself.
For anyone who has not been taking care of their dental health, it is never too late to start. Daily hygiene like teeth brushing, flossing, rinsing thoroughly, and scheduling cleanings and check-ups with your dentist goes a long way in preventing dental problems at any age.
To help put HealthLink’s community contributions into perspective, since opening its doors in 2001, the state-of-the-art dental clinic has seen more than 24,600 patients. Over the 20-year timeframe that is an average of 1,230 patients walking through the clinic doors each year. With an average value of each patient’s care totaling $387 last year, it is fair to estimate that HealthLink has saved our residents as much as $9.5 million. Based on these numbers, there is no question about HealthLink Dental Clinic’s value to Bucks and Montgomery Counties. Like the Tooth Fairy, up until now, HealthLink has been a well-kept secret. Yet, by all indications, it appears that that is about to change.
The process for becoming a HealthLink patient can be found on the clinic’s website www.healthlinkdental.org. All interested adults are asked to complete an application (online or by mail/fax) and provide the required documents. The clinic’s eligibility coordinator will review the application and call the prospective patient.
