Poppys
A 4,000+ square foot, independently-owned local food market is heading to the Delaware Rivertowns this Spring! Poppy’s Greengrocer will open its doors at 415 York Road in New Hope, PA and plans to up-end the grocery world by mutually empowering farmers, food makers and consumers to build a food system on their own terms. Aiming to become Pennsylvania’s first Certified B-Corp Grocery Store, Poppy’s unique business model will work for everyone—you, our region’s farmers, our local economies, and Poppy’s— and includes ownership for key local producers that will keep farmers farming.
No ordinary market, Poppy’s will work directly with local farmers to create a retail food hub and community market that celebrates the rich landscape of our local agriculture and offers best in class products and shopping experience. Everything we do will align with our values of hospitality, equity, and commitment to the earth.
From Tricia Borneman and Tom Murtha, Farmers and Owners of Blooming Glen Farm in Perkasie, PA: “Blooming Glen Farm is thrilled to work with Poppy’s Greengrocer, an experienced partner in the industry who understands and values seasonality – who is willing to carry and highlight products when they are at their peak flavor and quality.
We look forward to having an extremely local partner not just for ease of delivery but also to strengthen that dialogue between our farm and our consumers. Poppy’s is in our food shed – their customers are our customers. Poppy’s will be able to focus on retailing our product to both our established customers in that area, as well as reaching new ones, which leaves us to be able to focus on what we do best: growing.
Poppy’s profit-sharing model is unique and demonstrates that they value their growers. Their seriousness about having a strong relationship with ongoing open dialogue will in turn strengthen our farm, enabling us to better plan and weather each growing season.”
