Samantha Martin
Samantha Martin’s sanity was in the balance the day she called NOVA and a kindly volunteer let her be herself. “She didn’t dismiss me.” That and the need to grow out of a haunting past, led Samantha to seek the truth about herself and in doing that, she wanted to be able use what she learned to help others. She became a life coach, a “truth revolutionary,” as she likes to call herself. “A life coach is a cross between a friend and stranger,” she said. She cheerleads as a friend but is objective as only a stranger can be. And who needs a life coach? It could be a person trying exercise regularly or stay on a diet. Or it could be someone who wants to emotionally survive, who needs a responsive ear, a person who needs to learn and tell the truth about themselves—someone hurt, battered and bruised but wanting to make it. People come to her with loss of loved ones, ADD, depression, or simply a need to express themselves. Samantha is plain about one thing, “I am not a therapist. I am a life coach.” She doesn’t charge for that first phone visit, where she determines whether and in what way she can help. She is certified in her profession but believes that her real credentials were earned in her struggle to find truth about herself.
