J.R. Maxwell Builders—you know the name, but do you know the story? Jay Maxwell started the company in 1976 when his son, James, was born. James grew up carrying two-by-fours and learned the business as the years went by. After earning his degree from Drexel University, James Maxwell joined the family business. James has taken over as owner while Jay continues to work as lead estimator and project manager, utilizing his expertise in construction and impeccable attention to detail.
Originally begun as a residential construction company, James has now expanded into commercial construction with projects such as New Hope landmarks Ghost Light Inn and Stella Restaurant, Ferry Market, and the restoration and additions of the Bucks County Playhouse. Together, Jay and James built Mink Run Millwork, their custom cabinet shop, to offer more options for clients and to streamline the materials needed on job sites. J.R. Maxwell Builders works on all types of residential and commercial construction, as well as custom cabinetry for kitchens, bathrooms and more: built-in shelving, furniture, beams, etc.
As a family business, Jay and James value the relationships they have with their clients and they are known for quality work as well as being a company with heart. The Maxwells consider their clients part of their extended family. Many of their clients are repeat customers who continue to expand and improve their homes and businesses. A number of others are referral-based, because after you see the quality of J.R. Maxwell Builders’ construction, you’ll never want anything else. The team considers themselves lucky to be the best because they work with the best. Contact them today for any and all of your building needs 215.345.1953.
