“We had a cherry tree, and from it we always had enough cherries to get two pies and one painting,” said June Maxwell commenting on her painting, Red Cherries And Overturned Pot. This painting, one of the tree’s yield, also has in it one of June’s old antique buckets. The cherry on the right bottom that is falling, was put there for the purpose of adding some whimsy to the painting. This oil still life is 12 by 16 inches.
June L. Maxwell received her formal training at the Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, studying under Paulette van Roekens and Arthur Meltzer and in later years, lessons from Richard Pionk and workshops with Daniel Greene.
