Trios
Tomato Pie was first made in the latter half of the 19th century by Italian American populations in New Jersey, particularly Trenton, New Jersey. It is different than regular pizza because of its thinner and crisper crust and there are more tomatoes on it. When Trios Tomato Pie took this unbelievably tasty Italian-American food and brought it to Glenside, Pennsylvania, they dramatically improved the whole culinary scene. Trios Tomato Pie is a sister restaurant to La Villa in Morrisville, Pennsylvania. Gino Lenti, owner of LaVilla and Trios, cracked the Trenton Tomato Pie code and some say improved the recipe. Trios, managed by Gino’s cousin Giuliano Presta, is now one year old and has gained quite a following.
Before becoming the manager and cook at Trios, Giuliani worked for his father’s restaurant, Bella’s Restaurant & Pizzeria. Although he still makes traditional pizza, Giuliani prefers tomato pie, which he believes is a better tasting food. Trios is easy to get to and is right around the corner from the Keswick Theatre, which is nationally known for its perfect acoustics. Trios is a B.Y.O.B. and delivers. It is also does catering and the catering menu can be found on its Website www.triostomatopie.com. Trios Tomato Pie is located on 402 Easton Road, Glenside, PA 19038.
