Covered Bridge Artisans
The Covered Bridge Artisans Annual Studio tour is a self-guided event located in Southern Hunterdon County of New Jersey. This year the tour will take place in seven professional artists’ studios in the Lambertville, Stockton and Sergeantsville areas with eleven guest artists at the Cultural Arts Center in Sergeantsville. The tour is held Friday through Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend, November 29 & 30 and December 1st, 10 am to 5 pm.
The idea of the group grew out of a desire to bring visitors into the countryside to see high quality work being produced by studio artisans in their historic and architecturally interesting home environments.
Among the studios on the tour is, Katherine Hackl of Swan Street Studio in Lambertville, who produces traditionally hand crafted pottery and tile for both private and public installations. Her techniques and designs draw on the Arts and Crafts tradition. Katherine's distinctive pottery is a collection of hand–thrown functional stoneware and porcelain forms decorated with a hand–carved sgraffito technique. Each piece is a unique combination of elegant forms layered with botanical images, patterns, and illustrations. New to her work this year is a series of porcelain pieces with delicate brushwork.
