Reeds
The Reeds at Shelter Haven will reopen on June 1, 2020, welcoming guests with updated protocols and experiences that promote social distancing and ensure the health and wellbeing of both guests and staff.
“We’re looking forward to reopening The Reeds at Shelter Haven just in time for the summer season,” said Ron Gorodesky, President of Refined Hospitality. “Families have come to Stone Harbor for generations, and we’re thrilled that this summer will be no exception.”
Because the health and wellbeing of guests and staff remains the highest priority, The Reeds has consulted with medical professionals and participated in task force seminars to enact an extensive range of precautionary sanitation measures that follow state and federal guidelines to ensure a safe and healthy experience for all. The Reeds has also hired a Safety and Compliance Manager to maintain and enforce all health and safety guidelines across the property. These guidelines include:
Arrival: Parking professionals will wear a mask and will sanitize hands before removing luggage and transporting it to guests’ rooms. For guests who’d prefer to handle their own luggage, they will be given a sanitized cart. Guests will be directed upon arrival at the valet area to a secure self-park on 97th street. Only one car can be accommodated per room.
Check-in: Preregistration will be available for guests to check-in ahead of time and collect room keys upon arrival via an iPad with a disposable cover. There will be plexiglass separating guests and the front-desk agent, who will also wear a mask. After checking in, guests will be directed to a sanitizing station before going to their guestrooms. Elevators will be cleaned every hour and will be limited to one guestroom group at a time.
Common areas: Guests will be required to wear face masks inside common areas at all times. Complimentary face masks provided for any guests who do not have. Guests will also be asked to stand six feet from other guests at all times. All public spaces are receiving rigorous and frequent cleaning, multiple times a day. There will be additional hand sanitizing stations placed throughout public spaces and the back of the house for guests and team members.
Guestrooms: Face masks will not be required for guests within their guestrooms. All bed linens will be washed in The Reeds’ private laundry fcility with proper detergent after each use. All
unnecessary plush décor, kitchenware and floor runners will be removed to reveal surfaces that
are easier to clean (i.e. hardwood floors).
Housekeeping: The Reeds has increased the amount of housekeeping staff on duty at any one
time. All guestrooms will be cleaned with products sourced by global health authorities, including products like Air Spray N Go and Telex Hard Surface cleaners, prior to guests’ arrival. A complete list of all the products used will be available upon request. Guests can opt to reject or rest daily housekeeping and turn down service. For guests who’d like daily service, attendants will only come into the room when vacant and will wear a mask. For guests who reject housekeeping, they will be provided a bag of cleaning materials should they need.
Check-Out: Guests can check out from their guestrooms via TV and leave keys in their rooms. Guests will be asked to adhere to the 3:00 PM check-in and 11:00 AM check-out to allow for ample time to clean and air-out rooms prior to the next stay.
Luggage: Guests will be asked to store luggage in their cars if they would like to stay in Stone Harbor after checking-out. There will be no luggage storage at the hotel.
Employee Safety: All employees will be screened at the start of their shifts, and the hotel will ensure that they have the proper safely equipment to engage with our guests. In addition, employees will be asked to self-monitor and to engage in periodic testing.
The Reeds has updated its luxurious guest experience for the summer season that will better enable guests to social distance and enjoy a memorable first vacation post-quarantine. These offerings include:
Salt Spa: All spa attendants, receptionists, therapists, stylist and guests will be required to wear masks, and/or shields once New Jersey State guidelines determine that Salt Spa can open for a full-service experience.
Fitness Center: The Reeds’ Fitness Center will be thoroughly sanitized every hour. Ahead of opening, some equipment has been disabled/removed to create safe spacing between machines. Guests will be able to reserve a 45-minute time slot with the concierge. Up to 3 people will be permitted in this space at one time.
Beach Leisure: Transportation to the beach via GEM car will be pre-arranged and open to single family groups at a time. The driver will wear a mask, and guests will be asked to wear a mask as well. Beach butlers will properly position all chairs, umbrella, and towels, at a minimum of 6 feet apart from other setups. All beach supplies will be thoroughly sanitized each night and aired for 48 hours before being redistributed. Beach butlers can take food orders and deliver directly to beach chairs.
Dining: The Reeds’ three outdoor dining experiences – Buckets Margarita Bar and Cantina, Stone Harbor Pizza Pub, and the Water Star Grille – will provide food and cocktails to-go. Once the state allows for dining in the restaurants, tables will be properly distanced, reservations will be staggered and paperless menus will be available. Guests will also be able to pay their bills via phone.
Morning Yoga: Yoga classes on The Reeds’ roof garden will begin June 26 and will be limited to 15 guests per class. Mats will be spaced six feet apart and properly sanitized before and after each use. Guests will also be able to request a yoga mat for their rooms for live-streamed classes.
Bay Activities: Kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and Hobie Mirage Eclipses will be available for guests to enjoy on the Shelter Haven basin.
Golf: Guests can arrange for exclusive tee-times at the Stone Harbor Golf Club via concierge services.
Outdoor Exploration: The Reeds can arrange for outings to Stone Harbor’s parks or outdoor sanctuaries.
Pool/Hot Tub: Guests will be able to reserve 90-minute time slots from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily at the pool. Six people will be permitted in the pool/hot tub area at one time.
