Knee pain is often more than just an inconvenience. It can interfere with the activities you love, inhibit your ability to walk short distances, and even disrupt your sleep.
According to The Clinical Journal of Pain, one of the most common pain locations is in the middle of the knee where the joint connects the thighbone to the shinbone. Many patients also reported experiencing pain in their kneecap or a combination of their middle knee and kneecap.

If you hear a clicking or crunching sound when you walk on stairs, this may be a sign of Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome. This type of pain often occurs at the front of the knee around the kneecap. Women may be more likely to develop this condition since their wider pelvis can increase the angle at which the bones in the knee joint meet. Participating in sports with a lot of running and jumping can also make you more likely to get this type of knee pain.
