Dr. Gina Genin had only been a practicing chiropractor for a year when she got the remarkable opportunity to be mentored by Dr. Thomas Hilton, whose technique, DNFT or Directional Non Force Technique, was helping patients who either needed something different than the traditional adjustment or simply didn’t like the cracking sound adjustments made. He wanted to retire and leave his technique in capable hands that would be able to treat his patients and others who needed it. The young Dr. Genin learned how to use it quickly and knew her mentor had confidence in her, when after about six months of working together, Dr. Hilton asked her to adjust his wife—someone he had been adjusting himself for over 45 years. When Mrs. Hilton got off the table, she said to her husband, “Oh Tommy, she’s good.”
Now 26 years later Dr. Genin is one of a very small number of chiropractors, use DNFT. With DNFT there is no reason to fear going to the chiropractor. Dr. Genin explains, “It is a much less forceful technique. It takes the discomfort out of the adjustment. It is very specific; it only moves one bone at a time. So for people who have conditions that haven’t responded to other types of treatments, who want a gentler, less invasive form of chiropractic, this is it.” Dr. Genin, who also does the traditional type of adjustments, says of DNFT, “It allows me to adapt to all types of body style, types, ages, infirmities, conditions. It is good for pregnant patients and those who are have injuries. It is tailor suited to what a patient needs, which makes it really unique in that it’s not a one size fits all.” Dr. Genin’s practice is in Falls Township.
