Peonies
At Santa Bannon Fine Art in Bethlehem from June 5 to August 2, Paintings by Helen Mirkil, who painted Peonies (shown above) will appear with art by Brian Peterson and Barbara Schaff in the exhibit, Soaring: Eye Sees, Hand Move. A graduate of both the Certificate and MFA programs of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Helen Mirkil is both a masterful painter of diverse skills and an accomplished poet who has read her poems at numerous venues in the Philadelphia area and whose book Sower on the Cliffs was recently published by BookArts Press. She has exhibited her work at museums and galleries throughout the East Coast including a solo exhibition at the Walter Wickiser Gallery in New York City. Mirkil was also awarded two prestigious residencies through the Pennsylvania Academy (Wales, U. K. and Chester County, PA), and her paintings are in the collections of the Woodmere Art Museum, the Berman Museum of Art, the Michener Art Museum, as well as numerous private collections.
