Endless Furniture Possibilities
Woods of pine, poplar, and cherry are procured from the area’s best suppliers. Hardware is supplied by such top companies as Horton Brasses Inc. Stulb’s Old Village Paint line captures the charm and character of the piece. At Roger S. Wright Furniture, Ltd., their sturdy country furniture and kitchen cabinetry has been meticulously handcrafted for 35 years on the premises in their Bucks County workshop.
Roger Wright says, “Our custom designs feature over 300 years of reproductions, as well as custom adaptations. Every piece is made from start to finish by a single craftsman, then inspected and finished by an experienced specialist. Each is hand planed with antique hand planes. All moldings are handmade and most drawers are dovetailed. When combined with our center tracked drawers, the result is smooth and efficient pullouts. Backs and bottoms are strengthened by the use of solid pine. Our finishing process involves six elaborate steps. The top three coatings are moisture- and alcohol-resistant lacquer. Between coatings, every piece is hand rubbed. Cabinet interiors are painted with Stulb’s Old Village Paint,” says President and Owner Roger Wright.
Wright is the primary designer and personally works with each client. Supporting him is a crew of six cabinetmakers and finishers. “We can create what the customer wants. If they bring in a photo, we can recreate it—our ornamentations are quite ornate. Kitchen designs mostly are created on the computer. Sometimes I supplement them with hand drawings to highlight specific details of the design,” Wright says.
The furniture style available at Roger S. Wright Furniture, Ltd. is primarily Shaker. Its minimalism works well with a wide range of interior designs. This furniture type is made with form, function, and proportion in mind. It is commonly constructed of maple, pine, or cherry woods, and often painted in colors of green, red, yellow, or blue. According to Wright, he is in the planning stages of launching some Mission style furniture for 2014. This type of furniture, usually oak, features flat panels and simple lines that bring out the wood’s grain. The Mission style was very popular during the American Arts and Crafts movement. Also available at the Blooming Glen showroom is a line of upholstered products from Friendship Upholstery Company Incorporated. There are many frame styles to choose from, and nearly 500 fabrics available. Joining the American made upholstered furniture is a selection of Windsor chairs with hoop, sack, fan, and comb backs.
