At Home
by Mary Beth Schwartz
Spring is here again. The air is sweet with flowering bulbs. Wildlife is out and about. And there it is staring you in the face—the annual honey-do list. Your 20-year-old kitchen still needs an overhaul. Your outdated master bath needs some luxurious spa amenities. While you are at it, you might as well lump all of the renovation work into a custom home remodel. It looks like you need to schedule a meeting with Rolf Schroeder General Contractors, Inc.
President Rolf Schroeder and his son General Manager Derek Schroeder work for clients in both Bucks and Montgomery counties. Members of National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) and National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA), the Schroeders hold three professional certifications. They are Certified Remodelers. They also are Certified Kitchen and Bathroom Remodelers. And, finally, they are Universal Design Certified Professionals. The company recently added handyman projects and interior design service to their list of client offerings.
Rolf Schroeder General Contractors, Inc has garnered top awards from both NARI and NKBA. Since 2012, they have received The Intelligencer’s Best of Bucks/Mont Awards. The Schroeders also have been recognized by Remodeling magazine. From the magazine, they have received the Big 50 Class of 2014 Award, as well as the Guild Quality Excellence Award.
You can expect Derek and Rolf to be aware of the latest design trends. Speaking of trends, according to the website Houzz, there are 13 kitchen looks that will be big this year. Number one is a kitchen design that implements furniture style cabinetry and other furniture features. Two on the list is open shelves that are both airy and user friendly. Number three is the installation of eye-popping wallpaper, which adds interest to the kitchen. Trend four is the blending of the modern and traditional styles to create a modern traditional style. Number five on the list is a ceiling that makes a statement. The ceiling can use unique lighting, embellishments, or windows. Trend number six is the use of warmer metallics in kitchen design, such as copper, bronze, and gold. Number seven on the list is incorporating materials with textures that are pleasing to the touch. For eight, kitchens will be using black as the basic color to make a sleek and sophisticated statement. Number nine is keeping wall cabinets to a minimum. This creates a kitchen with more open space. For trend 10, look for the use of patterns in the kitchen. They can appear on wallpaper, on cabinetry, on tiles, even on the panels of appliances. Number 11 is the incorporation of vibrant hues in the kitchen. All-white kitchens or kitchens with one color are so not in. Kitchens in 2015 also can include vertical joint wood paneling for some interest, trend number 12. Last but not least, for number 13 on the list, Houzz says that the simple and timeless Classic Shaker style will be extremely popular this year.
