Bensalem School
Local 5th grade students are working on an ongoing initiative to make Bensalem a better place to be, live and work! A fifth grade science class at School Lane Charter School in Bensalem has been learning about the environment and how humans impact it both negatively and positively. In an effort to truly understand, they are pursuing a longer term project in which they will look at these environmental issues and how each affects the Bensalem community, pick the issue they are most passionate about and come up with a plan to fix it. A few steps in completing this project include interviewing Bensalem residents, coming up with an “Environmental Action Plan” with a group of classmates who are passionate about the same issue, and presentations which will be shown to parents. The top four plans will then be presented to Bensalem officials. The one they feel will be the most effective will become a project for the fifth grade to carry out.The mayor of Bensalem Township Joseph DiGirolamo along with Richard Krasselt, Environmental Protection Specialist and Detective Brian Oliverio with the Bensalem PD will be selecting a project on April 4th at 2:15 to 3:00 P.M. School Lane Students are excited and proud to be part of such an important initiative.
