Jon Mora
Savanah Dreams by Spanish artist Jon Francisco Mora is one Mora’s Neo-Abstract Expressionist paintings. Like other paintings he has done, it has lots of elephants. “I don’t plan to paint the elephants, but they get into the painting.” In fact one thing that Jon Mora never does is to plan what he is going to paint. “I let what happens, happen. If I begin to plan a painting in my thoughts, then I won’t paint.” Jon has lots of respect for abstract painter Jackson Pollock. Like Pollock, he paints with the canvas flat on the ground and seldom uses a brush. “I use turkey basters, rope with a twig on it …” Jon makes his own acrylic paints by the gallon, which allows him to determine how much pigment is used. The result of his painting is a kind of serendipitous magic. He has paintings on display at the Ski Barn, 2990 U.S. 1 Business, Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Toward the end of September he will be showing his art at the Triumph Brewery in New Hope. To see more of his work, both originals and prints, visit www.jonmoraart.com.
