Cure
The 5th Annual Couture for a Cure fundraising fashion event will be held at the Bucks County Playhouse on Friday, October 3rd to help raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer. The event is hosted by Dominique D. Pino-Santiago, a local resident and shop owner of Dominique Daniela, a women’s fashion boutique located at 37 N. Main Street, New Hope, PA. The fashion fundraising event has grown with the collaboration of the local New Hope-area small business owners who collectively donate their time, funding and fashion items to host a special evening of high fashion for a great cause.
This year’s event is focused on the next generation of survivors – all proceeds raised this year will benefit the Young Survivor Coalition (YSC). YSC has been at the forefront of providing support for this unique population by working with survivors, caregivers and the medical, research, advocacy and legislative communities to increase the quality and length of life for young women diagnosed with breast cancer at ages 40 and younger.
For Ms. Pino-Santiago, the mission is personal – her mother is a breast cancer survivor.
“I had to learn at the young age of 13 about breast cancer when my mother was diagnosed. Thankfully she is a long-time survivor and continues to support me at every fashion show,” said Ms. Pino-Santiago. “Her strength along with the many women I have met through the years who have battled breast cancer continues to inspire me. This show is to honor them and those we need remember, and educate the next generation. ”
The fashion community of New Hope is proud to host an event celebrating and honoring young breast cancer survivors. The evening will commence at 7 p.m. in the courtyard of the Bucks County Playhouse. As guests arrive, they will receive a signature “think pink” cocktail, the “Boobie Trap,” and then walk the “pink carpet” to peruse unique Silent Auction Items with a flair toward fashion and the local New Hope community. This year’s highlights of the Silent Auction will include dinners to local restaurants, theatre tickets, lobster dinners, a bike, jewelry, Flyers tickets, facials & massages, haircuts, many gift certificates and more.
A fashion-themed free photo booth will be available to capture the moment and give guests a chance to model their favorite look for the camera.
Following the open air cocktail reception, guests will find their seats in the beautifully restored historical playhouse to enjoy an entertaining and educational evening. Bringing the plight of young breast cancer patients to life through the performing arts, Ms. Pino-Santiago has choreographed an original ensemble that includes dance and song with young performers from Doylestown Dance Center and Downtown Performing Arts, where she is a dance instructor.
A high-energy fashion show modeled by all breast cancer survivors will follow, featuring clothing and accessories from Dominique Daniela, Angels Hearts and Bliss; hair designed by Salon Gratitude; and make-up applied by La Bella Vita on Main. Also featured in the show will be a line Ms. Pino-Santiago is designing called Kitt Allen, which is swimwear and lingerie for women with prosthetic breasts.
Past events have raised a cumulative total of over $25,000 donated to breast cancer-related organizations. Tickets are available to be purchased at www.dominiquedaniela.com ($50 for adult tickets and $25 for student tickets).
