Dog show
Bucks County resident Johanna Hanson and her Scottish Deerhound CH. Chase Farm Midnight Rambler (a.k.a. Willy), will compete inthe 139th Annual Westminster Kennel Club All Breed Dog Show in New York City Feb.16-17, 2015.
Hanson and Willy will join more than 3,000 competitors in the events of Westminster Week, which includes the iconic all-breed dog show and its 2nd Annual Masters Agility Championship at Westminster.
Willy is the nephew of GCH Foxcliffe Hickory Wind, the Scottish Deerhound who won Best in Show in 2011 at Westminster. According to Hanson, Willy is a cooperative and engaging ambassador for the giant breed as he adores everyone.
She and her husband welcomed their first Scottish Deerhound in 2000, and began participating in the Large Gazehound Racing Association’s Racing, Lure Coursing and Show Conformation in 2001. After 30 years operating a retail clothing store in Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia, the couple relocated to a farm in Bucks County. They created the Chase Farm Scottish Deerhound line in 2006.
Hanson has been named an American Kennel Club “AKC Breeder of Merit” inrecognition of the champions she has bred and the quality of her breeding program. The couple and their beloved deerhounds are a familiar sight in Bucks County, having been featured in regional magazines and spotted often with the hounds along the Delaware River and canal. It’s not uncommon to see cars slow or park outside Hanson’s Tinicum Township farm to watch several of the large Deerhounds taking their daily exercise, running along the farm’s multiple fenced paddocks.
