The Michener Art Museum is inviting audiences from far and wide to see the Museum in a new light beginning October 1, 2020. The Michener will be adding later hours on Thursdays, staying open until 8PM for After Dark. The evening is designed for all to enjoy, whether it be a date night or a family fun outing. The Terrace Café will also be re-opening and visitors will be able to savor pre-packaged meals inside or in the serene, outdoor Patricia D. Pfundt Sculpture Garden. Kids can explore the galleries with Art Discovery tote bags, chock full of fun activities, available for purchase at the Museum Shop. Additionally, the Museum will open early on Sundays for special Members-only hours from 10AM to 12NOON.
The Michener is also introducing a new program called Private Eyes, offering the ability to rent the entire Museum for 2-hour bookings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for those who are not ready for public settings. With only the Museum staff present, this private, safe venue is perfect for any occasion from holiday family get-togethers to corporate retreats and is the ultimate gift for art and museum lovers. The Michener will be following local government and CDC recommendations for COVID-19 safety measures and capacity limits. All interested parties should call for details.
“Private Eyes offers you and your quarantine bubble the opportunity to stroll our safe and clean galleries in isolation,” comments Executive Director Kate Quinn. “We are delighted to be able to offer this program to friends and families looking for a private cultural experience. As we have had a few weeks to adjust to new safety protocols, we are thrilled to be able to offer additional opportunities for the community to appreciate the Michener.”
Starting on October 1, 2020 and running through January 15, 2021, the new hours will be:
Thursday, 10 a.m.—8 p.m.
Friday, 10 a.m.—5 p.m.
Saturday, 10 a.m.—5 p.m.
Sunday, 12 noon—5 p.m. | Members-Only Hours 10a.m.–12 noon.
The Michener is also excited to welcome the community back for some in-person programs. Surrounded by art, calming fountains, and scenic gardens, and with safety as a priority, guests will be entertained with intimate musical performances within the historic courtyard of the Michener Art Museum.
